Aminophylline

To avoid excessive dosage in obese patients, dose should be calculated on the basis of dose determining weight.

Age ≥ 65 years
has CCF
has Cirrhosis
on Ciprofloxacin
on Cimetidine
on Erythromycin / Clarithromycin
  • Measure plasma-theophylline concentration 4–6 hours after the start of intravenous infusion
  • Plasma-theophylline concentration for optimum response 10–20 mg/litre (55–110 micromol/litre)
Incompatibility
Amiodarone, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, dobutamine, hydralazine, ondansetron.
